Two cricketers Michael Zannis and Mark Haskett , have been selected as part of the team to represent Australian in the Return Ashes Series in December 2008 Golf Diana Thiselton has just returned from Ireland competing in the recent British Blind Golf Open Championships and the World Blind Golf Championships held in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Despite the bad weather Diana was within 1 stroke of being 3rd in the Ladies Competition. Well Done Diana. Sailing Peter Aspinall and Michael Zannis have just returned from competing in the 2008 Australian Blind Sailing Championships in Albury, at the Wodonga Yacht Club, Victoria. The crew from NSW held 3rd spot over our South Australia team coming in 4th, by just one point. Crews are made up of two blind or vision impaired sailors (helm and mainsheet trimmer) and two sighted sailors (headsail trimmer and a tactician who cannot operate any equipment) with divisions for B1, B2, B3 vision classified helms. Racing conditions were excellent, for the championships, with consistent 5 - 12 knot breezes, allowing groups of 30 - 45 minutes heats to be sailed back to back before crews changed over into the next provided boat. Nine races where completed over the two days.. Indoor Bias Bowls On the 11th - 12th September, 12 people from the Association of Blind Indoor Bias Bowlers club, went to Port Pirie to play for the Mark Hanlon Trophy playing against the Port Pirie Senior Citizens Club. The team for Adelaide wining by 1 point, 90 to 89 and retaining the trophy which they won last year.
