Fishing for the Disabled Australia FDA provides people with a disability with the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and explore the recreational and sporting activity of fishing. The aim of membership in the association is to participate in organised fishing days out, workshops and eventually compete in the sport of fishing. Volunteers facilitate the process by directly assisting people with a disability to participate in fishing activites, however they do not take on the role of "carer" as people with special needs are required to have their own carer present. FDA enables groups from charity and welfare organisations to experience the joys of fishing activities. These activities provide the opportunity and encouragment for these special people to learn new physical and social skills while thoroughly enjoying the experience which may include: - Shore based fishing at safe locations such as Mawson Lakes and West Lakes
- Excursions and fishing in their wheelchair friendly 25 foot sweetwater pontoon boat around the port river and garden island area
- Seeing features of the port river, including dolphins and land marks such as the Submarine Corporation ( and perhaps a submarine)

Elizabeth Special Needs Judo Club Inc. Paul Reeves is the founder of Australia's First Special Needs Judo club, which was incorporated in March, 2007. Elizabeth Special Needs Judo Club is a not for profit incorporation for children with disabilities to play and learn Judo as a sport. Paul's motivation developed from his experience, that many children couldn't gain access to suitable Judo Clubs, or coaches simply didn't understand the complexities of disabilities to coach people with disabilities. Yet he has seen the potential and benefits Judo has on young people, including physical development, Psychologically growth, social interaction and confidence. This year Paul is planning to organise a National Judo competition for people with disabilites and has competitiors from as far away as Tweedheads wanting to come to Adelaide to compete. If you know of someone between 5 and 18 years old whom has a disability and may be interested in trying Judo as a sport, Paul would welcome them to come along to the club or phone Paul on 043 769 2168 for further information.
