TABLE TENNIS FOR THE BLIND "how is this Possible?" This low impact, fast and furious game that is sweeping the world is making a popular come back. Regardless of your fitness levels, age or levels of blindness or low vision. Anyone can play this game at a competent level. Either as an individual or as a team. It is one of the few sports where a person who is totally blind can compete not only against people who have low vision but also can compete against people who are fully sighted at an equal level. Already there are sighted teams who want to challenge Blind or Vision impaired people at this game. So all we need now is some V.I.P. players to accept these challenges. Blind Table Tennis's will be held on the first Saturday of each month starting February. Date: First Saturday of each month Time: 2pm till 4pm Where: 25 Cressy Avenue, Windsor Gardens Cost: Gold Coin Donation Contact Person: Anthony Clarke, 8261 3715 For further information regarding table tennis for the blind or public transport options to attend, please contact Anthony Clarke, Table Tennis Co-ordinator on the above number.
Elizabeth Special Needs Judo Club Inc. Paul Reeves is the founder of Australia's First Special Needs Judo club, which was incorporated in March, 2007. Elizabeth Special Needs Judo Club is a not for profit incorporation for children with disabilities to play and learn Judo as a sport. Paul's motivation developed from his experience, that many children couldn't gain access to suitable Judo Clubs, or coaches simply didn't understand the complexities of disabilities to coach people with disabilities. Yet he has seen the potential and benefits Judo has on young people, including physical development, Psychologically growth, social interaction and confidence. This year Paul is planning to organise a National Judo competition for people with disabilites and has competitiors from as far away as Tweedheads wanting to come to Adelaide to compete. If you know of someone between 5 and 18 years old whom has a disability and may be interested in trying Judo as a sport, Paul would welcome them to come along to the club or phone Paul on 043 769 2168 for further information.
